With its steep south-facing slopes, this Grand Cru overlooks the historic village of Riquewihr. This terroir, which has enjoyed a good reputation since the High Middle Ages, owes its name to Schoenen Berge = beautiful mountain or Schönenberg = beautiful castle. Riesling truly comes into its own here. These wines are characterised by intense freshness and very concentrated fruit.
